Flight Nurse – Float Pool

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Conducts a diverse range of specialized functions and intricate assessments, diagnoses, therapies, and emergency interventions for patients transported by rotor-wing, fixed-wing, or ground services.

• Accurately documents essential information regarding assessment and treatment during the stabilization and transport phases.

• Records complete and precise billing information related to patient transports.

• Ensures effective and timely communication among management, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

• Engages in activities that support public relations and marketing initiatives.

• Works 24-hour shifts with the potential for a 24 on 24 off rotation.

• Maintains knowledge in flight nursing by participating in mandatory meetings, chart reviews, equipment evaluations, skill labs, clinical rotations, and continuing education related to the care and transport of critically ill or injured patients.

• Completes all required annual recurrent competency assessments.

• Holds an active RN license and fulfills all certification requirements as stipulated by policy.

• Operates clinically under the supervision of the program's Medical Director via established medical protocols and online medical guidance.

• For clinical concerns, reports directly to the program's Manager of Clinical Services and indirectly to the National Director of Clinical Standards.

• Responsible for understanding and adhering to the regulations and scope of practice set by the local Department of Health Services.

• May support the Clinical Educator’s role by providing education and serving as a preceptor/mentor for new hires.

• Must be willing to travel for extended periods (minimum of 1-week availability).

• Flexible with scheduling to accommodate the new hire orientation process.

• Capable of enforcing enterprise-level guidelines and policies while adjusting to regional-specific requirements.

• Builds rapport with regional management, customers, and new employees to foster trust and support.

• Communicates effectively with both pre-hospital and hospital clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess an active RN license for practice in the employed states.

• Active paramedic certification in the state(s) of employment is preferred.

• A minimum of three years (five years preferred) of current critical care or emergency experience.

• At least one (1) year of PHI experience; two years preferred.

• A role model and high-performing clinician.

• Current Clinical Field Training and/or Check Clinician certification.

• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, and TNATC, TNCC, ITLS, or PHTLS certifications; NRP preferred. Instructor certifications are also preferred.

• Experience in CFRN flight or transport.

• Must successfully complete the PHI Health Group education and orientation program.

• Strong human relations skills necessary for interaction with all personnel levels and external customers.

• Must meet and maintain the clinical personnel weight restriction for flight as per policy.

• Basic computer skills for email, electronic charting, etc., are required.

• A bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.

• Ability to communicate verbally, effectively, and clearly in person and by radio.

• Must be able to pass a pre-placement physical examination, including a functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, able to lift 100 pounds).
