Flight Control Laws Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Enhance and refine CLaws design and evaluation tools utilizing Matlab and C++.

• Assist in the development of CLaws, autopilot, and navigation designs for research and development projects.

• Formulate requirements for CLaws and associated systems.

• Conduct verification and validation for any updates or new designs related to CLaws.

• Validate and deliver CLaws in compliance with DO‑178B standards and SAE ARP 4754 guidelines.

• Design and create pilot-in-the-loop CLaws informed by performance evaluations and test pilot feedback.

• Analyze CLaws and fly-by-wire (FBW) system failures and stability using both analytical approaches and flight test data.

• Facilitate the integration of CLAWS into diverse testing rigs and supplier equipment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A decade of relevant experience in developing Flight Control Laws for Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering; a PhD is preferred.

• Strong expertise in aircraft flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and handling characteristics.

• Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink and C++ programming languages.

• Experience in control systems design, including Classical, Modern, SISO, and MIMO approaches.

• Familiarity with DO-178B, SAE ARP4754, and aerospace software certification standards.

• Solid understanding of control law evaluation methods and testing protocols.

• Good comprehension of aircraft stability and handling characteristics, particularly in pilot-in-the-loop scenarios.

• Skilled in writing Matlab scripts and programming in C++.

• Fluent in both written and spoken French and English.
