Finance Specialist for Restoration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop financing mechanisms and arrangements for the restoration of native vegetation, incorporating models relevant to the supply chain, compliance with the Forest Code, and strategies for restoration on public lands, facilitating the execution of PLANAVEG;

• Foster collaboration on this topic with other pertinent governmental and non-governmental entities;

• Maintain a network of advocacy among key private-sector stakeholders related to the topic, including restoration/carbon companies, investors, and offtakers for priority value chains;

• Identify, assess, and assist in mobilizing financial resources from investors, financial institutions, and the private sector, in line with the restoration strategy;

• Convert the requirements of the restoration strategy into practical financial solutions, linking field opportunities with financing mechanisms;

• Create work plans, Terms of Reference, reports, technical documents, and additional materials pertaining to the execution of activities/projects under your oversight;

• Oversee the technical execution and financial oversight of projects/activities under your purview, adhering to the tools and methodologies established by WWF Brazil and the WWF Network;

• Contribute to the technical guidance of the finance-for-restoration initiative, in collaboration with team members and internal leadership;

• Assist in monitoring the impact and outcomes of projects/activities under your supervision, in alignment with WWF Brazil’s monitoring plan;

• Aid in the creation of communication and mobilization materials, such as studies, videos, and other products;

• Represent the organization on issues within your expertise with the WWF Network, other NGOs, government agencies, the private sector, research institutions, financial entities, individuals, and leaders to ensure the advancement of integrated actions and projects;

• Operate at the intersection of the Restoration and Green Finance Circles, ensuring strategic consistency and integration of agendas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or related fields;

• Proficient in advanced English (speaking, comprehension, and writing at an advanced level for discussions with international stakeholders, drafting materials and reports, etc.);

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Finance for Restoration, including expertise in finance related to climate, biodiversity, land use, agriculture, or nature-based solutions;

• Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas:

• Structuring financial mechanisms or instruments;

• Mobilizing resources from investors or financial institutions;

• Developing financial models related to climate, biodiversity, or land use;

• Carbon markets;

• Private financial mechanisms or public funding;

• Experience interacting with the private sector, financial institutions, investors, or government, and participating in multi-stakeholder platforms.

• Preferred: Knowledge of native vegetation restoration;

• Experience conducting economic and financial feasibility analyses of projects or mechanisms;

• Willingness to travel.
