This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assisting in the organization's budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning alongside the CFO and department heads.
• Collaborating with program teams to create and oversee program and departmental budgets while monitoring financial performance.
• Generating monthly financial reports and conducting variance analysis for leadership and program teams.
• Overseeing the financial components of foundation, government, and international donor grants, which includes budgeting, tracking expenditures, and financial reporting.
• Working with the Development team to formulate grant proposal budgets and funding forecasts.
• Keeping track of restricted funding to ensure compliance with donor financial requirements and reporting duties, including cost allowability and documentation stipulations.
• Partnering with the Assistant Controller to guarantee accurate recording of revenues, expenses, and grant activities, while also supporting the monthly close and financial reporting processes.
• Collaborating with the Assistant Controller and CFO to prepare financial reports for leadership and the Board, audit preparations, and to uphold robust financial controls and procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• 5–7+ years of experience in nonprofit finance or accounting, ideally within a grant-funded context.
• Proficient in managing foundation, government, and international donor grants in a multi-donor funding landscape (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies, or other bilateral or multilateral funders).
• Knowledge of donor compliance, financial reporting, cost allowability, and audit standards for government or foreign agency funding.
• Exceptional skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and accounting.
• Experience with financial accounting systems and general ledger software; proficiency in Intacct or similar nonprofit accounting systems is preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and collaborative abilities.
