This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Oversee the timely and precise monthly closing process and statutory/US GAAP financial reporting by managing the close calendar, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, analyzing variances, and delivering entity financials and management packs within established deadlines and quality standards.
• Administer banking, payments, and cash control by managing bank platforms and mandates, executing approved payment runs in accordance with policies, maintaining signatory documentation, resolving compliance issues directly with banking partners, and adhering to AML/KYC and local regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that financial audits are unqualified and completed on schedule by serving as the principal contact for external audit engagements, coordinating document requests, evaluating findings, and determining corrective actions to ensure timely resolution and control integrity.
• Manage tax, payroll, and statutory compliance with external advisors by coordinating filings and statutory reports, validating calculations, addressing inquiries from authorities, and ensuring accurate and timely submissions to Mexican tax and labor agencies.
• Monitor working capital health and cash conversion against Controller targets by tracking DSO/DPO/DSI and related KPIs, analyzing contributing factors, and initiating agreed-upon actions with site and commercial leaders in alignment with Controller/CFO policy to reduce overdue and slow-moving inventory.
• Lead the local planning calendar for budgets, forecasts, and decision analysis by collating inputs, creating templates, preparing bridges and sensitivities, and briefing the Regional Controller and local leadership on risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate audits and inventory control with site and logistics teams by preparing audit schedules, responding to requests, performing cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, documenting annual stock counts, and ensuring actions are closed with verified effectiveness.
• Maintain administrative and local records along with entity governance by managing administrative documentation, ensuring contractual documentation aligns with corporate legal standards, preserving ERP and document-retention integrity, and keeping corporate registers up-to-date.
• Enforce internal controls and regulatory compliance for the Querétaro entity by maintaining the control framework, testing key controls, documenting evidence, remediating gaps, and aligning procedures with Mexican regulations and corporate finance policies.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; MBA/CPA/Chartered Accountant preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (JD Edwards E1 preferred) and familiarity with KPI and reporting dashboards.
• Advanced Excel skills required, especially experience with pivot tables.
• Experience as a local controller or finance manager in distributor/manufacturing settings; proven track record working with third-party payroll and statutory providers.
• Prior experience with a company that imports goods from the US.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English (read/write/speak).
• Strong understanding of Mexican statutory reporting requirements, banking regulations, and applicable laws in the Querétaro region.
• Excellent judgment and independence.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
