This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +6 more states.
• Provide fractional financial leadership placements.
• Integrate directly within client organizations to address immediate capacity gaps, while flexibly adapting to evolving client needs.
• Conduct rapid assessments of the financial, accounting, and compliance landscapes within client organizations, identifying gaps and formulating a roadmap for improvement.
• Supervise daily financial and accounting operations, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure immediate operational and financial stability.
• Develop and implement enhanced systems for essential financial and grant management requirements; streamline workflows, reporting tools, and systems integrations.
• Formulate and oversee financial strategies, multi-year grant budgets, and cash flow projections.
• Advise boards and executive teams on complex financial decisions and transformational change management processes.
• Offer strategic coaching to emerging leaders to foster long-term confidence and self-sufficiency.
• Focus on Strategy & Operations Project Management or Support roles.
• Concentrate on establishing the practical organizational framework and technical infrastructure necessary for transitioning from ad hoc operational responses.
• Collaborate in the creation and implementation of practical financial strategies to promote growth, scalability, and a robust human-centered infrastructure.
• Evaluate role structures, processes, systems, and policies, implementing necessary enhancements.
• Align finance and accounting systems with client requirements, assisting in system selection, implementation, and/or customization.
• Create and operationalize tangible internal assets, including policies, manuals, and regular financial reports.
• Generate financial reports and evaluate their accuracy, addressing open questions and risks.
• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting within nonprofit organizations, social impact initiatives, and philanthropic grantmaking.
• For fractional placements, at least 5+ years of experience managing high-performing finance and/or accounting teams.
• Exceptional active listening, communication, and facilitation skills, with a proven track record of leading high-stakes collaborative, strategic discussions and guiding clients towards an integrated, cross-functional approach that merges finance expertise with operations, program, strategy, HR, compliance, and more.
• Quick learner with a high degree of adaptability.
• Ability and enthusiasm for transitioning seamlessly between high-level strategy and detailed execution.
• Collaborative working style to engage and align teams, support change management initiatives, and build organizational capacity.
