đź“‹ Description

• Take ownership of the closing process. You will manage monthly reconciliations and closures for your Financial Reporting Organizations (FROs) as well as at the consolidated level, which includes treasury, PR/AR/AP, payroll, and other liabilities.

• Ensure timely grant reporting. You will provide financial oversight for grants and maintain comprehensive financial reports for FROs and governmental entities.

• Transform numbers into actionable insights. As the primary reviewer of monthly financial reports, you will assess monthly financials for relevance, consistency, and completeness—advocating for improvements that enhance the utility of reports for decision-making.

• Prepare for audits. You will support audit processes, including the preparation of schedules and assistance with 990 filings.

• Engage the entire team. You will make financial insights understandable and actionable for all stakeholders, whether they are scientists, engineers, or program leads.

• Enhance systems and procedures. You will contribute to the improvement of workflows, maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensure robust internal controls.


⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in nonprofit accounting. You possess a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting, the differences between restricted and unrestricted donations, and government grants. You have a knack for resolving complex reconciliation issues and a dedication to ensuring financial accuracy.

• Experienced in audits. You have participated in numerous audits (including single audits) and are comfortable handling 990 forms.

• Knowledgeable in federal grants. You comprehend federal grant compliance and have managed several federal grants, familiar with the acronyms used by federal agencies.

• Detail-oriented yet practical. You pay attention to the finer points without getting bogged down by immaterial details. You know when to advocate for compliance or adherence to GAAP standards.

• Proficient with systems. You enjoy interacting with various systems and have a solid understanding of accounting systems, knowing when to seek assistance with systems issues.

• An effective collaborator. You can simplify complex journal entries into plain language for non-financial colleagues effortlessly.

• Competitive Salary: The salary range for this position is $111,000 - $159,000. Convergent adheres to a consistent compensation philosophy across all roles, benchmarking salaries against San Francisco market data and aiming for the grade midpoint, which is around $159,000 for this role. Geographic adjustments apply for employees located outside of SF, NYC, or Boston. For instance, the midpoint for this role in Denver, CO, would be about $135k, and in Eugene, OR, approximately $119k. We ensure a minimum of 70% of the SF midpoint, reflected in the range's lower limit, promoting transparency, consistency, and equity in pay across locations while considering local market conditions.
