This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.
• Record and review accounting entries to guarantee accuracy and timely posting across all entities.
• Conduct reconciliations for banks, intercompany accounts, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accounting schedules and provide supporting documentation for the month-end close process.
• Assist in the prompt completion of month-end closing activities, which include accruals, adjustments, journals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet schedules) for internal and third-party review.
• Examine supplier invoices to ensure correct accounting treatment and appropriate VAT coding.
• Ensure accurate accounting for service-company invoices, including management fees, recharges, and cost allocations.
• Aid in the preparation of annual financial statements by compiling schedules and supporting reports.
• Maintain the accounting system in a clean, structured manner, aligning it with group policies.
• Collaborate with PSP/Provider reconciliation staff to ensure precise monthly revenue and fee recognition.
• Coordinate with local tax advisors in various countries to ensure the timely filing of VAT/GST, corporate tax, and statutory accounts.
• Guarantee that all required filings and compliance deadlines across jurisdictions are consistently met.
• Prepare and submit mandatory financial reports to regulators and licensing bodies in different jurisdictions.
• Assemble audit-ready files, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of supporting documents.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors during year-end group audits.
• Engage in the development and implementation of internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in finance roles.
• Strong understanding of accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on Approach: Eagerness to be engaged in the daily operations of the finance department, particularly in a growing company.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
• Operational Efficiency: Capability to enhance finance processes and systems, driving improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
• Nice to have: Previous experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., gambling, financial services) is preferred.
• Relevant certifications (ACCA, CIMA, etc.) are a plus.
• Financial Expertise: Strong command of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS, GAPSME).
• Tax and Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with tax laws, VAT regulations, and statutory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
