Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Gather soil, water, leaf, petiole, and various agricultural samples from farms in accordance with relevant SOPs.

• Utilize Trimble or MYFARMWEB™ CAPTURE to obtain location data.

• Accurately fill out online job cards for each sample taken, ensuring precise data recording.

• Dispatch samples to the appropriate laboratories.

• Complete weekly machine inspection checklists.

• Undertake ad hoc duties and other related tasks as assigned.

• Assist Agriculture Specialists and Soil Scientists with sample collection and submission for analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• National Senior Certificate.

• An agricultural qualification is advantageous.

• Previous experience in agriculture is beneficial.

• Proficient in computer skills.

• Full professional proficiency in both Afrikaans and English, including speaking and writing.

• Capable of lifting and carrying over 12 pounds/6 kg comfortably.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Comfortable with routine tasks and adaptable to ad hoc situations.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Effective organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks.

• Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

• Must own or be able to acquire a suitable pickup truck (bakkie).

• Availability to work every second Saturday as necessary.

• Willingness to travel extensively, both locally and internationally.

• Prepared to work long hours when required.

• Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Harrismith area; no relocation assistance will be offered.
