This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Evaluates medical record documentation to extract and assign diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for statistical categorization and reimbursement objectives.
• Executes various coding tasks under the supervision of Coding Management.
• Offers insights regarding documentation and coding concerns.
• Employs software applications and coding references to complete coding-related assignments.
• Aids in the training, mentoring, and quality assurance of Level I and Level II coders as instructed by Coding Management.
• Collaborates with clinical departments as necessary.
• Fosters strong unit cohesion by effectively collaborating with team members.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• 4-6 years of medical coding experience with multi-specialty exposure or a relevant specialty certification is required.
• Strong proficiency in procedural coding is essential.
• Experience in reviewing medical record documentation is required.
• Applies advanced coding knowledge, including familiarity with hospital-based academic guidelines.
• Knowledge of encoder and data abstraction software is necessary.
• Strong understanding of billing and reimbursement processes is required.
• Must achieve a coding proficiency pre-hire test score of 80% accuracy or above.
• Good computer keyboarding abilities are required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
• Experience with Epic software is advantageous.
• Experience with 3M encoder is beneficial.
