This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Analyzes, interprets, and abstracts clinical documentation from both inpatient and outpatient hospital records.
• Codes intricate orthopedic surgical cases across various subspecialties.
• Implements suitable DRG and/or APC assignment methodologies.
• Guarantees coding precision and adherence to regulations.
• Utilizes hospital EMR and coding systems to gather essential clinical and demographic data.
• Works in partnership with physicians and clinical personnel to enhance documentation quality.
• Achieves or surpasses set productivity and quality standards.
• A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
• An associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
• Must possess at least one of the following credentials: RHIT, CCS, CIC, COC, COSC.
• A minimum of 3+ years of coding experience in a facility or hospital setting is required.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems is essential.
• A strong grasp of orthopedic anatomy, physiology, and surgical techniques is necessary.
• Proficiency with hospital coding software and electronic medical record systems is expected.
• Capability to independently handle coding tasks with minimal oversight.
