This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with PSEF’s Ad Hoc Executive Director Search Committee to orchestrate and oversee a national search for the upcoming Executive Director.
• Enhance the search approach, candidate specifications, and market positioning.
• Identify and evaluate candidates through proactive outreach, network-driven sourcing, and nationwide recruitment efforts.
• Assist in candidate assessment, screening, semifinalist evaluation, reference checks, and work-sample suggestions.
• Evaluate candidates’ competencies in fundraising, lending, capital deployment, strategic execution, executive leadership, and alignment with the mission.
• Create and implement an equitable search process that mitigates bias.
• Organize search committee and Board meetings, interviews, decision-making processes, finalist coordination, and offer acceptance procedures.
• Provide guidance on transition and onboarding strategies.
• Offer communications support, candidate-facing materials, confidentiality protocols, reporting, and regular updates.
• Collaborate with PSEF staff to ensure understanding of organizational context, culture, role clarity, and insights into strategic implementation.
• Assist the Board in approving the candidate profile, finalist interviews, and the final hiring decision.
• Extensive experience in conducting searches for Executive Director, CEO, or similar senior leadership positions within mission-driven organizations.
• Proven track record of placing leaders responsible for managing funds, loan pools, community investment strategies, or mission-driven financial frameworks.
• Experience in recruiting leaders who implement multi-year strategic initiatives involving governance, movement relationships, fundraising, and capital deployment.
• Strong history of attracting diverse candidate pools and promoting equitable, inclusive search practices.
• Familiarity with committee-led and Board-sanctioned processes.
• Excellent project management, communication, and candidate stewardship skills.
• An approach tailored to suit PSEF’s scale, values, leadership context, and budget considerations.
• Knowledge of social justice, climate issues, environmental sustainability, clean energy, philanthropy, community development, community finance, lending, loan funds, enterprise strategy, financial institutions, or movement ecosystems.
• Transparent pricing or rate details.
• Capacity to perform original candidate research and outreach beyond established databases and contacts.
• At least three client references for similar executive search assignments.
• Proposal must contain a firm overview, relevant experience, methodology, engagement plan, timeline, team composition, DEI and bias-mitigation strategies, fee structure, deliverables, communication methods, and references.
• Submission through PSEF’s application portal by Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
• Complete all mandatory questions in the application portal and upload one PDF proposal.
• Email submissions are not permitted unless approved for accessibility reasons.
• Opportunities for regular travel to board meetings, member gatherings, funder meetings, conferences, and annual in-person events.
• Advisory support for transition and onboarding for the chosen finalist.
