This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Provide strategic and operational guidance to the Biotech EMEA business development team, managing and developing a group of 9 territory-focused commercial professionals, while nurturing a robust new business (“hunter”) culture.
• Take ownership of regional revenue and profitability goals across a substantial biotech portfolio (approximately $500M), ensuring consistent sales performance, pipeline expansion, and market penetration.
• Define and implement the commercial strategy, which includes territory planning, market prioritization, and opportunity development throughout the region.
• Oversee complex deal execution, including strategic proposals, pricing strategies, and high-stakes negotiations.
• Assess team and regional performance, proactively identifying gaps and driving accountability.
• Work collaboratively across functions with operational and leadership teams to synchronize the commercial strategy with delivery capabilities and client requirements.
• Utilize market intelligence and competitive insights to refine strategies and uncover growth opportunities, while maintaining engagement with executive-level clients to support key partnerships.
• A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
• Significant experience (typically over 15 years) in CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech commercial roles, including substantial leadership experience (7+ years) in managing business development teams.
• A proven history of leading new business-oriented (hunter) sales teams and achieving considerable revenue growth across extensive, complex regions.
• Strong background in territory-based sales models, with proven ability to enhance performance through effective market coverage and pipeline development.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be taken into account.
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong commercial and financial insight, with the capability to drive new business growth and translate strategy into measurable outcomes across extensive, intricate portfolios. Demonstrated success in leading territory-based, hunter-focused sales teams within the CRO or broader biotech/pharma services sector. Profound understanding of CRO business models, clinical development services, and the needs of biotech clients. Advanced experience in overseeing complex, high-value negotiations and deal strategies. Exceptional leadership and team development skills, with a strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally. High organizational agility, enabling effective operation across multiple EMEA markets and navigation of complex, matrixed environments. A global perspective with strong cultural awareness.
