Executive Director, Clinical Platforms, Product Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement the product strategy and roadmap for clinical platforms, ensuring alignment with Fortrea’s enterprise and clinical delivery goals.

• Oversee the complete product development lifecycle, which includes ideation, engineering, validation, deployment, and ongoing management of applications.

• Foster the adoption of a product-centric operational model centered around agile practices, DevOps, and a customer-first approach.

• Guarantee that solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with regulatory standards in the realm of clinical research.

• Assess and incorporate digital health, AI/ML, and emerging technologies to improve clinical trial delivery and enhance patient experience.

• Regularly analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and technology advancements to maintain Fortrea’s competitive edge.

• Manage the daily operational framework for Clinical Platforms, ensuring predictable delivery, high quality, and operational efficiency.

• Take ownership of PMO governance, portfolio prioritization, and the discipline of execution across platform initiatives.

• Develop consistent delivery standards, reporting schedules, and performance metrics.

• Actively identify and address risks, dependencies, and constraints related to resources.

• Ensure product roadmaps are aligned with delivery capabilities.

• Promote continuous enhancements in delivery speed, cost-effectiveness, and quality results.

• Ensure platforms facilitate the entire clinical trial lifecycle, from study initiation and site management to data collection, monitoring, safety, and regulatory submission.

• Convert clinical and operational requirements into technology-enabled solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and data integrity.

• Serve as the primary integrator among Clinical Operations, Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, Security, and Data Privacy teams.

• Collaborate with business leaders to establish clear accountability, governance, and decision-making for complex initiatives.

• Lead the creation of executive-level communications, presentations, and materials for external stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain a standardized library of platform resources (decks, demos, one-pagers).

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

• Extensive experience in clinical research, CROs, pharmaceuticals, or regulated healthcare technology sectors.

• Proven expertise in leading the product development process from start to finish and in building enterprise-level applications or platforms.

• Comprehensive understanding of the entire clinical trial lifecycle and the associated technology ecosystems.

• Demonstrated experience with digital health technologies, clinical platforms, or patient-centric solutions.

• Significant leadership background in product management, engineering, and operational delivery.

• Experience managing and leading complex PMO and enterprise delivery operations.

• Established record of supporting client-facing interactions, sponsor engagements, and bid defense efforts.

• Strong experience in managing vendor ecosystems and external strategic partnerships.

• Experience working within highly matrixed, global organizations.

• Proven ability to balance a strategic vision with practical execution.
