This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review and manage guideline exception requests.
• Ensure accurate communication and tracking of all guideline exception disposition terms (such as pricing impacts, minimum rates, pricing limits, and underwriting conditions) within Encompass.
• Monitor and maintain consistency in exception dispositions throughout the entire lifecycle of a loan, from scenario assessment to file submission and underwriting.
• Oversee communications among sales, underwriting, secondary markets, and the exception desk to guarantee compliance with service level agreements (SLAs); this includes conducting daily/weekly reviews, sending reminders, and collaborating with the team to prioritize requests.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive set of frequently asked questions and responses to identify potential clarifications/enhancements to guidelines and improve training for sales and underwriting teams.
• Recognize significant guideline exceptions and partner with the marketing department and sales leadership to promote these loans to the sales team.
• Document, maintain, and update exception desk policies and procedures as necessary.
• Identify opportunities for operational enhancements in exception processes to better structure the desk for scalability and improved SLAs.
• Collaborate with the product development team to ensure underwriting guidelines, including proprietary loan products, are consistently maintained across various origination channels and contain current information.
• Conduct guideline gap analyses against competitor product offerings and pinpoint areas for potential enhancement.
• Provide assistance with general exception administration and product development-related tasks as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• At least five years of professional experience in the mortgage industry or a related field.
• Experience with Non-QM mortgages is preferred.
• Familiarity with Encompass software is preferred.
