Events Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Strategically plan and execute the organization’s decade gala, collaborating with our event management and creative design partners to provide an exceptional experience for around 500 guests and development staff to achieve our fundraising objectives.

• Organize and implement 12 book talk events with a minimum of 50 participants each, specifically aimed at supporting curriculum placement, which includes outreach to academic and institutional collaborators.

• Coordinate three film screenings of The Alabama Solution targeting key stakeholders in finance and policy to influence critical decisions.

• Organize our annual staff and board retreat along with three departmental retreats.

• Facilitate three direct actions to further the organization’s advocacy objectives.

• Collaborate with the Chief Narrative Officer to formulate and implement a comprehensive plan for the organization’s event calendar from inception to completion.

• Take complete ownership of the planning and execution of all Worth Rises events, encompassing galas, retreats, book talks, film screenings, webinars, press conferences, direct actions, and other organizational gatherings.

• Create and manage event timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, run-of-show, and participant engagement.

• Serve as the liaison for managing venues, vendors, and other parties involved in the event planning process.

• Work cross-functionally with other organizational teams to coordinate event promotion and logistics, including permits, materials, and partner and press coordination.

• Actively identify and propose new event and conference opportunities, employing creative thinking to enhance Worth Rises' presence across various formats, audiences, and occasions.

• Develop and sustain the organization's events infrastructure, including a database of past and potential venues, vendors, speakers, and best practices.

• Monitor event performance and generate post-event reports that include insights and recommendations.

• Minimum of five years of experience in event planning and management, covering large-scale events (e.g., galas, conferences), public-facing activities (e.g., press conferences, direct actions), and virtual formats (e.g., webinars, panels).

• Strong project management capabilities with a proven ability to oversee multiple events concurrently across varying timelines.

• Experience in vendor, venue, and budget management.

• Ability to thrive in dynamic environments where plans may shift rapidly.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to engage respectfully and thoughtfully with directly impacted individuals and communities, demonstrating sensitivity in navigating complex issues.

• Openness to travel as necessary for event management purposes.
