This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Create conceptual, preliminary, and definitive cost estimates (Class 5 through Class 1) for projects in the oil & gas, power, and data center sectors, adhering to AACE estimate classification.
• Generate quantity take-offs and assess direct and indirect costs for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and controls scopes.
• Estimate significant equipment (turbines, generators, transformers, switchgear, compression, cooling, and data center MEP) utilizing vendor quotes, historical data, and parametric models.
• Establish and uphold labor productivity, craft rates, and construction pricing benchmarks tailored to each sector and region.
• Conduct contingency and escalation analyses; quantify estimate accuracy ranges along with key assumptions and exclusions.
• Assist with bid packages, evaluate contractor/vendor proposals, perform bid leveling, and engage in contract negotiations.
• Reconcile estimates with previous revisions and project controls budgets; execute estimate-to-estimate and estimate-versus-actual benchmarking to enhance future accuracy.
• Maintain a cost database and a library of lessons learned; gather actual cost feedback from completed projects.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project controls, and finance teams to ensure estimates align with scope, schedule, and execution strategy.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Over 7 years of estimating experience on capital projects within the oil & gas, power generation, and/or data center industries.
• Strong skills in quantity take-off and a solid understanding of direct and indirect cost build-up, indirects, escalation, and contingency.
• Knowledge of AACE estimate classes and best practices in cost estimating.
• Proficiency in estimating tools and advanced Excel; capable of interpreting drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
• Experience in estimating for combined-cycle power, gas processing/midstream, and hyperscale data center facilities.
• Familiarity with cost management systems such as Oracle Unifier.
