Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Participate and contribute to EDI meetings.

• Attend panel meetings to evaluate cases and assist in investigations.

• Provide leadership to advance significant initiatives in the areas of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

• Act with integrity and adhere to the BE code of conduct.

• Support the recruitment process and motivate a top-notch EDI team.

• Collaborate with the Board and CEO to establish a comprehensive scheme of work with the EDI team.

• Assist in organizing the agenda for EDI meetings and driving the EDI agenda forward.

• Work closely with designated BE staff to ensure that resources are effectively prioritized for the integration of EDI practices throughout the organization and the broader game.

• Ensure documentation and execution of EDI action points, with appropriate references to the Main Board for necessary approvals and challenges.

• Support a dedicated subcommittee and take on chairing responsibilities if needed.

• Assess the impact of the EDI Advisory Group on EDI initiatives and observe changes across all levels within the game and among stakeholders.

• Collaborate with other Advisory Groups to foster change.

• Report on annual progress during the BE AGM and in the annual report.

• Provide support to BE with recommendations aimed at enacting change.

• Possess a working understanding of key legislation pertaining to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

• Advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion as part of a collective effort.

• Identify significant issues and trends that may enhance the game through relevant interventions.

• Availability to meet and work outside of standard working hours.

• Successfully network with key personnel and contacts within the NGB and its networks.

• Ability to communicate effectively and confidently, both in writing and verbally.

• Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Work collaboratively as part of a team.

• Maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of the Association, including participating in case management for issues related to abuse and discrimination.

• Access to a resourceful network and organizations that can further support EDI initiatives.

• Experience in volunteer roles that relate to the basketball community's roles and challenges.

• Ability to review and analyze data to make informed decisions.

• Skill in working strategically to engage under-represented communities.

• Experience in strategic planning and consultation.

• Strong presentation skills.

• Representation and lived experience are critically important to this committee and its operations.
