This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee quantitative analysis and modeling of real-world data, including CMS, commercial claims, and clinical health information, to derive actionable insights for federal public health.
• Conduct analyses to estimate the prevalence and incidence of chronic diseases at the population level, utilizing real-world data.
• Design, execute, and enhance machine learning and statistical models (such as regression, clustering, and causal inference) for surveillance and research objectives.
• Create and manage data pipelines and dashboards for extensive health datasets using R, Python, and SQL.
• Employ DataBricks and Snowflake for efficient and scalable data processing and analytics.
• Collaborate with epidemiologists, clinicians, and public health professionals to interpret results and guide CDC policy and strategy.
• Prepare scientific reports, presentations, and publications tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ensure data integrity, documentation, and reproducibility throughout all analytical processes.
• Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members as required.
• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Data Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in health data science and epidemiology, particularly in analyzing real-world data (RWD) including surveillance, commercial claims data, clinical data, or other extensive health datasets for generating epidemiological population-level estimates.
• High proficiency in R, Python (inclusive of libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), and SQL, with substantial experience in manipulating large datasets.
• Extensive background in biostatistics and the use of statistical platforms, particularly SAS; experience in converting SAS to R is desirable; proficiency in conducting epidemiological analyses.
• Proven track record in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Strong foundation in population-level public health, along with experience in scientific writing and presentations.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment independently while delivering high-quality outcomes on schedule.
