
Environmental Compliance Field Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Perform fieldwork in Humboldt County, California.
• Execute surveys for biological resources under the supervision of a project manager or field supervisor.
• Oversee environmentally sensitive areas during both preconstruction and construction phases.
• Collaborate with construction teams and environmental resource leaders to document compliance with environmental regulations.
• Record observations and take notes using a Dudek platform and electronic devices (smartphone/tablet) for reporting purposes.
• Adhere to all Dudek and construction site safety protocols.
• Engage with clients, representatives from government agencies, members of the public, and others while on-site.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or a related field OR a minimum of 2 years of field experience in construction compliance monitoring and/or surveying.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective time management abilities.
• Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing weather and survey conditions in the field, understanding that this may impact the number of hours surveyed daily, weekly, or monthly.
• A strong work ethic, positive demeanor, and self-motivation, with a desire to learn and develop.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and/or the capability to be insured to operate a vehicle.
• A reliable vehicle is necessary for traveling to project sites (4WD is not required).
• Knowledge of environmental regulations.
• Qualified biologist skilled in surveying and monitoring special-status wildlife and plant species.
• Previous approvals from CDFW and/or USFWS as a project-approved biological monitor or designated biologist.
• Experienced in construction monitoring and inspection.
• Competent in conducting nesting bird surveys.
• Skilled in noise monitoring.
• Proficient in third-party oversight monitoring.
• Certifications in sediment and erosion control.
• Experience in conducting hazardous materials inspections.
• Familiarity with GPS/GIS mobile applications (ArcField Maps, ESRI, ArcMap).
• Experience with Survey123.
