This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Develop exceptional 3D environment art, props, modular assets, materials, set dressing, and world-building content across diverse visual styles.
• Utilize concept art, references, style guides, blockouts, client directives, or ambiguous creative briefs to deliver clear and refined results.
• Construct, assemble, and integrate assets and environments in Unreal Engine, focusing on composition, clarity, performance, and technical specifications.
• Support the complete environment art pipeline, encompassing modeling, UV mapping, baking, texturing, material creation, optimization, engine integration, and final refinements.
• Evaluate artwork from internal colleagues, partner studios, or external vendors, providing clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
• Assist in translating broad client or project feedback into specific tasks, priorities, notes, and acceptance criteria that artists can act upon.
• Aid in maintaining visual consistency across assets, scenes, and teams by defining quality standards, style expectations, and review criteria.
• Collaborate with art directors, leads, producers, technical artists, designers, engineers, and artists across various studios and time zones.
• Proactively identify production risks such as unclear direction, workflow gaps, quality issues, technical limitations, or scheduling concerns.
• Contribute to improving workflows and pipelines to enhance team efficiency and consistency.
• Document processes, best practices, feedback, and workflow guidance as needed using tools like Confluence, Miro, or Jira.
• Balance visual quality, production efficiency, and performance requirements while addressing the needs of each project.
• Over 5 years of professional experience as a 3D Environment Artist, Generalist, World Artist, or a similar position in gaming or real-time production.
• At least one shipped game or a comparable real-time interactive project.
• Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality environment art, world building, prop creation, materials, and/or scene assembly.
• Excellent artistic eye for form, composition, lighting, material definition, scale, visual hierarchy, and style consistency.
• Ability to work across various visual styles, from realistic to stylized, based on project requirements.
• Experience in creating both standalone assets and assembled environments/scenes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the entire environment art pipeline, including modeling, UV layout, baking, texturing, materials, optimization, and engine implementation.
• Professional experience with Unreal Engine.
• Proficient in common production tools such as Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and Photoshop.
• Practical knowledge of real-time performance considerations, including LODs, draw calls, texel density, texture memory, collision, lightmaps, shaders/material complexity, scene organization, and asset budgets.
• Strong communication skills, particularly in providing feedback, clarifying direction, documenting decisions, or addressing complex problems.
• Capability to transform vague or high-level directives into clear, actionable tasks.
• Comfortable working collaboratively with artists, leads, producers, and cross-discipline partners.
• Able to professionally give and receive feedback in a clear and constructive manner.
• Strong sense of ownership, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in evolving into broader leadership roles over time.

• Previous experience mentoring artists, reviewing work, or informally fulfilling lead-level responsibilities.
• Experience collaborating with outsourcing, co-development, partner studios, or external vendors.

• Experience providing feedback through written notes, paintovers, drawovers, video reviews, live calls, or structured review documents.
• Proficiency with common production tools such as Perforce, Jira, Miro, and Confluence.
• Experience assisting in defining style guides, quality standards, workflow documentation, or art review criteria.
• Experience translating client feedback into Jira tasks, art notes, production plans, or acceptance criteria.
• Experience with procedural workflows, Houdini, Blueprints, Python, scripting, or tool-assisted content creation.
• Experience conducting optimization phases, performance profiling, memory budgets, or platform-specific art constraints.
• Experience with both realistic and stylized production art.
• Experience utilizing multiple engines or real-time pipelines.
• Experience directly engaging with clients or supporting client-facing reviews.
• Portfolio Requirements: Please submit a portfolio that clearly demonstrates your capabilities in environment art and/or generalist roles.
• Strong portfolios should include:
• Completed 3D environments, scenes, props, or world-building examples.
• Examples rendered or captured in a real-time engine, preferably Unreal Engine.
• Breakdowns illustrating your process, including blockout, modeling, UVs, baking, texturing, materials, set dressing, lighting, and final integration where applicable.
• Examples displaying your versatility across different visual styles.
• Examples of modular kits, reusable asset systems, material workflows, or production-friendly environment pipelines.
• Any examples that highlight technical problem-solving, optimization, performance-aware decisions, or efficient workflows.
• If showcasing team-created work, please clarify your individual contributions.
