This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Establish the art direction for the environment of the project and set overall quality benchmarks.
• Work in partnership with Level Design, Lighting, and Technical Art to create environments that enhance gameplay.
• Supervise the creation and application of environment art assets.
• Monitor the overall quality of environments, focusing on world building, composition, scale, and level clarity.
• Evaluate the work produced by team members and external artists, offering constructive feedback.
• Enhance production pipelines and workflows to guarantee efficiency and uniformity.
• Construct game environments with a focus on performance optimization.
• Determine the visual direction and production strategy for all environment art throughout the project, designing the standards and workflows that facilitate consistent output from the team.
• Over 8 years of experience in game development or a similar relevant field, including at least one shipped game.
• A portfolio demonstrating high-quality, photorealistic environment art showcased in-engine.
• A portfolio that highlights the use of composition, scale, form, and lighting.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Korean.
• A deep understanding of the entire environment art production pipeline.
• Practical experience with environment art workflows in Unreal Engine or Unity-based platforms.
• Expertise in major software tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance, and Houdini.
• Background in modular environment production and level composition.
• Experience in leading a team or mentoring fellow artists.
• Proven track record of managing environment art quality and direction while meeting project deliverables.
• Capable of self-management, task prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
• Available to work during Pacific Time zone business hours (10am-4pm) with regular availability for evening meetings for international collaboration.
• Willingness to travel internationally 1-3 times per year for business purposes.
