This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.
• Develop and execute scalable, secure, and interoperable data systems (including data warehouses, data lakes, and real-time processing platforms) specifically designed for OU Health’s enterprise data analytics platform.
• Establish and uphold conceptual, logical, and physical data models to standardize data across clinical, research, and operational systems.
• Ensure that models are aligned with healthcare-specific requirements (clinical, claims, provider, member, etc.).
• Design and manage data integration processes (ETL/ELT pipelines) to facilitate seamless data flow between OU Health and other entities as required.
• Collaborate closely with clinical, research, and administrative stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions that satisfy departmental needs.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration among all involved parties.
• Monitor and enhance database performance, troubleshoot issues, and incorporate new technologies to meet the evolving analytics needs of healthcare.
• Implement strong security and backup measures to safeguard sensitive patient information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
• Prepare and maintain system documentation, data dictionaries, and architecture blueprints.
• Provide training and guidance to team members on best practices in data management.
• Identify opportunities to improve data infrastructure, foster innovation, and facilitate advanced analytics for better patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
• Work closely with clinical staff, IT professionals, data analysts, and researchers to comprehend data requirements, workflows, and challenges.
• Lead regular meetings and workshops to collect input and ensure data solutions align with clinical and operational needs.
• Serve as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data concepts into actionable insights.
• Ensure that data architecture decisions reflect the priorities of clinicians, administrators, and compliance officers.
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing by documenting data models, standards, and best practices.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members on data management, security, and governance.
• Lead collaborative initiatives to resolve data issues, optimize workflows, and adopt new technologies.
• Encourage open communication and feedback to continuously enhance data systems and processes.
• Engage in project planning and execution, ensuring that data architecture aligns with project objectives, timelines, and resource limitations.
• Coordinate with project managers and other architects to provide integrated solutions.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data architecture, database design, or healthcare IT is required.
• Proficiency in database management systems (SQL, NoSQL, cloud platforms).
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7).
• Familiarity with data modeling, ETL tools, and data integration platforms.
• Programming skills (Python, Java, Scala) and experience with big data technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across clinical and technical teams.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare data security, privacy, and compliance regulations.
• Experience in healthcare data governance, data hub design, and advanced analytics.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Certification in data architecture, healthcare informatics, or related technologies preferred.
