This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee the Enterprise Data Governance initiative by establishing and executing governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operational models throughout the organization.
• Create and uphold data ownership and stewardship frameworks to guarantee accountability for essential data assets across various business functions.
• Assemble, facilitate, and support Enterprise Data Governance Councils and working groups to synchronize priorities, standards, issue resolution, and the adoption of governance practices.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to integrate governance practices into both operational and strategic endeavors.
• Encourage organization-wide acceptance of governance principles while nurturing a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making.
• Design and implement enterprise data quality management practices, which encompass monitoring, measuring, remediation, and continuous improvement processes.
• Develop governance procedures for the identification, prioritization, escalation, and resolution of data issues.
• Define and monitor crucial data quality metrics and governance KPIs to evaluate program effectiveness and business value.
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify the root causes of data quality issues and enhance data reliability across vital domains.
• Direct the implementation and governance of metadata management capabilities, including data catalog, business glossary, and data lineage.
• Oversee the enterprise business glossary and critical data elements to ensure uniform definitions and a shared business understanding across the organization.
• Promote lineage and traceability across essential business processes and reporting environments to enhance transparency, trust, and readiness for audits.
• Collaborate with data owners and stewards to enhance metadata coverage, quality, and adoption throughout the enterprise.
• Establish standards and procedures for metadata management and catalog governance.
• Work with analytics and reporting teams to facilitate governed self-service analytics, standardized reporting, and reliable decision-making.
• Assist in the development and adoption of common KPIs, business definitions, and reporting standards to minimize inconsistencies in reporting.
• Partner with business intelligence, analytics, and technology teams to enhance the accessibility and usability of trusted enterprise data assets.
• Foster data literacy, stewardship engagement, and governance awareness through training, communication, and change management initiatives.
• Prepare and present updates on the governance program, including scorecards and executive presentations that summarize progress, risks, opportunities, and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor the maturity of the governance program and identify opportunities for enhancing adoption, effectiveness, and realization of business value.
• Ensure that governance initiatives are aligned with enterprise priorities and strategic objectives.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field is required.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in data management, data governance, analytics, information management, or related fields.
• At least 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and operationalizing enterprise data governance programs.
• Proven experience in establishing governance frameworks, stewardship models, data quality programs, metadata management capabilities, and governance operating models is essential.
• Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across both business and technology sectors is required.
• Preferred certifications include CDMP/DAMA, DCAM, or other relevant data governance certifications.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, metadata management, data quality, and best practices in data lifecycle management.
• Experience with enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data catalog platforms such as Atlan, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar solutions.
• Solid comprehension of stewardship models, governance operating structures, and practices related to governance program maturity.
• Ability to define, monitor, and enhance data quality metrics, governance KPIs, and measures of business value.
• Experience in facilitating governed self-service analytics, standardized reporting, and the trusted use of enterprise data.
• Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to drive organizational change and encourage the adoption of governance processes and standards.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies and complex cross-functional environments.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across business, analytics, and technology teams.
