This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Oversee engineering projects within distribution centers and plant-based warehouses.
• Formulate strategies for enhancing warehouse processes and infrastructure that optimize asset utilization while keeping capital and maintenance expenses within budget.
• Provide enterprise-wide leadership and execution for powered industrial equipment (PIT) and industrial racking systems throughout the manufacturing and distribution network.
• Collaborate closely with automation and operations teams to ensure that facilities and equipment are prepared for automation.
• Create strategies for cost reduction and efficiency enhancements in your area of expertise.
• Manage warehouse operating budgets and assess trade-offs in capital investments.
• Investigate emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance across the distribution network.
• Establish strong partnerships with strategic suppliers to foster accountability, performance, and value.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least seven years of experience in industrial engineering or logistics and distribution engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of warehouse infrastructure and building systems, including material handling equipment (MHE), racking, dock equipment, and drop lots.
• Proven experience in developing and executing programs from initial concept to implementation.
• Familiarity with material handling automation technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), and conveyor systems.
• Ability to influence outcomes within cross-functional teams and third-party relationships without direct reporting authority.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to convey analyses and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Experience in driving programs and initiatives within matrixed organizations.
• Proven track record of building strong internal and external relationships and holding individuals and vendors accountable.
• Background in inventory management, warehouse operations, or related supply chain functions that closely interact with distribution operations.
• Project management experience for capital projects valued at up to five million dollars.
• Strong understanding of distribution operations and comprehensive supply chain management.
