Engineering Manager – QA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy that aligns with business goals.

• Foster a cultural transformation towards quality ownership among engineering teams.

• Set quality metrics and KPIs to gain valuable insights into product health.

• Advocate for shift-left testing practices to identify defects early in the development process.

• Create and enhance a test automation strategy to maximize coverage.

• Incorporate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and confident releases.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and CI leadership to synchronize quality initiatives.

• Mentor and develop QA engineers, promoting continuous learning.

• Recognize bottlenecks in development and apply solutions for enhancement.

• Stay abreast of industry trends and assess tools for potential adoption.

• Propel data-driven decisions regarding quality investment efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in quality engineering with a strong track record of establishing and scaling QA organizations.

• Profound understanding of long-term software quality, including shift-left approaches, test pyramid principles, continuous testing, and sustainable automation strategies.

• Solid technical background with practical experience in test automation frameworks and programming (Python preferred; Linux experience is an advantage).

• Proven experience in implementing quality practices within CI/CD environments.

• Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern engineering practices (TDD, BDD, trunk-based development, feature flags).

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

• A strategic mindset coupled with a pragmatic, results-driven approach.

• Business fluency in English; proficiency in German or willingness to learn is a plus.

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
