This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ensure high reliability, minimal latency, and accuracy for Lithic's transaction processing interfaces and associated services.
• Lead the implementation of new features across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integration areas.
• Take ownership of and enhance the infrastructure supporting physical network peering with card network partners, ensuring that connectivity, failover, and capacity align with reliability standards.
• Elevate operational excellence: enhance observability, incident response, on-call preparedness, and practical reliability enhancements.
• Manage initiatives from initial planning to launch, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the process.
• Collaborate closely with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements early, allowing engineering efforts to focus on the most impactful tasks.
• Spearhead improvements to systems, processes, and documentation so that new team members can onboard efficiently.
• Engage in and contribute to the evolution of the team's on-call rotation.
• Proven experience in managing and developing engineers, including providing coaching, feedback, and conducting hiring processes.
• Strong technical judgment and system design capabilities, particularly for low-latency, high-availability systems, along with a solid understanding of networking and infrastructure.
• Comfort in remaining close to the work — this is a player-coach position where the manager can remove obstacles, review designs, and occasionally contribute hands-on when necessary.
• Experience in shipping and managing production services with stringent uptime and latency demands.
• Familiarity with or interest in network infrastructure — including peering, connectivity, failover, and capacity planning for external partner integrations.
• Experience with or a willingness to learn about payment processing — including card network protocols, authorization flows, clearing/settlement, or similar areas.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Kotlin and AWS (or similar stacks), with the ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar technologies.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to maintain team alignment under tight deadlines.
• A growth mindset and a continuous desire to learn and enhance skills.
• An interest in fintech and payments is preferred.
