Engineering Manager – Experimentation Infrastructure

📋 Description

• Guide the team in providing a platform that enables Airbnb to utilize experimentation for informed decision-making and enhanced understanding, with agility and dependability.

• Be knowledgeable in systems design and architecture, capable of evaluating trade-offs, and ultimately responsible for defending technical choices and the technical trajectory for your team.

• Collaborate across the organization, working closely with upstream dependencies (e.g., data infrastructure, core services), stakeholders, and clients (Data Science, Analysts, Product Engineers).

• Empower the team to reach a high level of productivity, reliability, and simplicity.

• Keep abreast of leading industry trends and engage in shaping the company's engineering culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience managing teams of software engineers.

• More than 9 years of pertinent software development experience in a fast-paced technological environment.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.

• Demonstrated technical leadership: hands-on experience leading highly technical and senior teams while establishing technical direction and strategy.

• Familiarity with experimentation and/or feature flagging systems, particularly at a large scale.

• Experience with and enthusiasm for experimentation methodology and practices.

• Background in data infrastructure (storage, processing, orchestration) and/or data-driven application development is a significant advantage.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Capable of working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives.

• Ability to retain, mentor, develop, and recruit senior and staff engineers.

• Capable of contributing to cultural choices and initiatives that positively influence the entire engineering team.
