Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• Lead and Oversee Engineering Teams: You will be responsible for the team's processes, delivery, and execution, ensuring optimal performance and high-quality outcomes.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Clients: Work together to develop your team’s roadmap, aligning priorities that satisfy both business objectives and customer requirements.

• Offer Technical Direction: While daily coding may not be required, you will review pull requests, architecture, and design documents, providing technical coaching and feedback to guarantee high-quality solutions.

• Manage Performance: You will take charge of your team’s performance, proactively identifying and addressing any issues. Deliver immediate and actionable feedback to foster continuous improvement.

• Mentor for Development: Assist engineers in achieving their full potential by cultivating a growth mindset and creating tailored development plans.

• Own and Enhance Engineering Processes: We prioritize streamlining and refining processes. You will set team goals and elevate the technical standards across the organization, fostering a culture of ongoing feedback and transparency.

• Lead Recruitment and Talent Development: Engage in all phases of hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent, contributing to the rapid growth of our team.

• Proactively Address Issues: At Clipboard, “We don’t have any toes to step on.” If you identify a problem, you take ownership and resolve it.

• Foster Open Dialogue: Anticipate transparent, open forums where feedback is encouraged, and bring your curiosity to engage in first-principles thinking.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in leadership roles such as Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Founder.

• Proven experience managing agile, high-performing teams in dynamic, geographically dispersed settings.

• Performance Management Proficiency: Comfortable confronting performance challenges and offering coaching that empowers engineers at all levels.

• Customer-Focused Problem Solver: A strong understanding of customer needs, with the ability to convert ambiguous issues into practical solutions.

• Excellent Communication Skills: You are adept at both writing and speaking clearly, simplifying complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Hands-On Development and System Design: Although your primary focus is on leadership, you possess technical fluency and experience in system design and coding.

• Capable of Navigating Difficult Discussions: You are decisive and straightforward, able to provide constructive feedback and address issues promptly.

• Experienced in Team Development: Proficient in hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent to establish high-performing teams.

• Balanced Collaboration: Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment at all levels.
