This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Take charge of the delivery and quality of CPU bootloader firmware across NVIDIA’s data center CPU platforms, overseeing the process from architecture to production release.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of firmware engineers specializing in ARM bootloader, secure boot, and initial system bring-up.
• Collaborate closely with NVIDIA’s CPU architecture team, bringing a firmware perspective to hardware design and influencing the development of the next generation of silicon.
• Conduct high-stakes technical reviews and facilitate rapid issue resolution across the hardware-software interface, working with key stakeholders to expedite time-to-market and ensure the delivery of production-ready solutions.
• Promote modern engineering practices such as thoughtful code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing on emulation and silicon, and collaborative root-cause analysis.
• Cultivate an AI-driven engineering culture by integrating AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools to enhance team productivity and code quality.
• Encourage an async-first working environment that enables a geographically distributed team to collaborate effectively across different time zones.
• Organize and execute silicon tape-out and product launch milestones, communicating risks and progress with senior leadership.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Over 10 years of relevant firmware or systems software experience, including work with bootloader, BIOS/UEFI, or embedded systems.
• At least 3 years of engineering management experience, demonstrating a history of developing strong, supportive teams.
• Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones, with a clear strategy for fostering the success of autonomous contributors.
• Strong foundation in C/C++ and the capability to engage in in-depth technical discussions regarding CPU bring-up, memory initialization, and hardware-software interfaces.
• Familiarity with ARMv8/v9 architecture, exception levels, and bootloader concepts such as reset flow, PSCI, and OS hand-off.
• Proven AI-forward mindset; actively utilize AI coding assistants in your own workflow and assist your team in adopting these tools.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a preference for written documentation that fosters shared understanding within a remote team.
