This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers in a rapidly growing environment.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support individual development through regular one-on-one meetings, feedback, and coaching.
• Engage in hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes.
• Oversee team execution, including planning, prioritization, and delivery of engineering tasks.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects with a focus on high quality and clear accountability.
• Identify potential risks early and proactively eliminate obstacles.
• Maintain a balance between speed, reliability, and technical debt in a pragmatic manner.
• Serve as a technical advisor on system design, architecture, and trade-offs.
• Guarantee that backend systems are scalable, reliable, and high-performing.
• Advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and security.
• Collaborate closely with other teams such as DevOps and Product to align on technical direction.
• Work in tandem with Product, DevOps, ML, and other teams to ensure strong alignment.
• Convert business and product objectives into actionable engineering execution plans.
• Communicate effectively and proactively in a fully remote work environment.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in an engineering management or tech lead position.
• Strong backend expertise (PHP, Python, Go, Rust, or similar), with a solid comprehension of distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and successfully delivering complex technical projects from start to finish.
• Comfortable discussing system design, APIs, performance, and scalability.
• Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and monitoring.
• Strong leadership skills: empathy, clarity, and the ability to elevate team performance without causing burnout.
• Exceptional communication skills and the capability to operate independently in a remote setting.
