This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and nurture multiple engineering teams with varying levels of seniority, fostering their development, performance, and career trajectories.
• Direct hybrid teams comprising both contractors and full-time employees, ensuring that each group remains focused, healthy, and productive.
• Guide the teams through transitions — including promoting the adoption of AI tools and encouraging engineers to adapt their working methods.
• Establish and advocate for strategies concerning technical debt and platform investments, striking a balance between long-term sustainability and immediate delivery pressures.
• Serve as a sounding board for technical leads — rigorously evaluate their thought processes and challenge any tendencies toward over-engineering or excessive deliberation that could waste the teams’ time.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and technical leads to maintain delivery alignment, ensuring that it is realistic and properly prioritized.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, effectively communicating team capacity, progress, and trade-offs.
• Attract and retain top engineering talent, creating teams that individuals aspire to join.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrable experience in managing software engineers, including senior-level engineers and a mix of contractors and full-time staff.
• Experience in delivering software within a regulated, security-conscious environment such as payments or financial services (familiarity with standards like PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX, GDPR, or CCPA is a plus).
• A proven history of leading teams through transitions, including the adoption of new tools and methodologies.
• Sufficient technical knowledge to credibly question architectural and engineering decisions — though this position does not involve coding or code reviews.
• A track record of leading by influence: guiding technical leads and Product Owners rather than directly managing the work.
• Experience collaborating with remote and globally distributed teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Competitive salary + bonus
• A remote-first culture!
• Flexible PTO
• Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
• 13 Paid Holidays
• Company volunteer days
