This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Create, test, document, and launch high-quality software into production.
• Develop features and tools utilized by you and your team.
• Clarify project requirements and assist in coding and story estimations.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as necessary to resolve software issues.
• Quickly recognize when to troubleshoot or escalate issues when tasks or projects encounter obstacles.
• Mitigate immediate risks while identifying and addressing root causes.
• Deliver solutions that are logical, testable, maintainable, and efficient.
• Make decisions regarding technical and design trade-offs.
• Contribute to team planning and design discussions, enhancing expertise in design strategies, promoting best practices, and improving delivery speed.
• Lead code reviews to provide constructive feedback.
• Enhance software quality, customer experience, and product feature maintainability by automating testing and manual operational excellence tasks.
• Advocate for best practices and enhance the efficiency of delivery.
• Improve testability, operational excellence metrics, and team documentation.
• Influence your team's compliance with the principles, guidelines, and best practices outlined in our engineering strategy.
• Develop a thorough understanding of our industry, product offerings, feature set, and roadmap.
• Collaborate closely with our product team and other internal stakeholders to make technological decisions that enhance and develop our products.
• Assist in onboarding and mentoring engineers and interns.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in software development.
• Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
• Over 4 years of experience in building highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
• More than 2 years of experience working with Java/AWS.
• A solid understanding of a wide range of design approaches.
• Ability to triage and debug system-wide production issues.
• Proven experience in coaching other engineers.
• Capable of effectively communicating complex technical subjects to diverse audiences, including engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, and non-technical functional leaders.
• Familiarity with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Possess an agile mindset, embracing new initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Flourish in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth atmosphere where priorities frequently change and decisions are made swiftly.
• Team-oriented mentality, willing to go the extra mile to complete tasks and striving for improvement.
• Able to work effectively across functions within an enterprise environment.
