Encoder Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee transmission and telecom services for ESPN remote events of varying sizes and scopes.

• For each assigned program and event, strategize and integrate essential technical and operational elements of the remote, while coordinating with Remote Traffic, Transmission, and Remote Operations, as well as various other ESPN departments and external vendor sources.

• Adhere to work order instructions that detail service information for specific events.

• Distribute work order details and communicate them to all relevant parties within a designated time frame before and during the event.

• Organize and provide support for on-site transmission services at remote sports venues.

• Organize and provide support for on-site telecommunications services at remote sports venues.

• Participate in site surveys for assigned remote events to conduct venue analysis and prepare written pre-event plans.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the operational and technical aspects of various telecom services and equipment, necessary for fulfilling departmental responsibilities effectively.

• Ensure that transport services and equipment vendors adhere to and uphold ESPN's technical and operational standards.

• Take on special projects as assigned.

• Availability for travel and on-site support during evenings and weekends is required.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience related to broadcast or technical operations, including on-site experience with remote transport and transmission systems.

• Proven experience in managing operational processes for remote productions and remote transport systems.

• Strong understanding of production workflows and operational systems.

• In-depth knowledge of telecom services.

• Experience in managing and implementing multiple budgets.
