This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, create, and uphold dependable, high-quality embedded software for both spacecraft and terrestrial systems that support a growing satellite fleet.
• Develop and integrate secure communication features, including encryption, authentication, and key exchange for advanced data links.
• Construct and sustain low-level software components such as device drivers, kernel modules, hardware interfaces, and platform services.
• Create automated tests, validation tools, and technical documentation to ensure robust software delivery and long-term maintainability.
• Engage in software architecture discussions, design reviews, and code evaluations to guarantee software quality and system reliability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to outline system requirements, troubleshoot complex problems, and enhance system architecture.
• Identify performance deficiencies, reliability risks, and architectural limitations in existing systems, driving enhancements across the software stack.
• Offer technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers while promoting best practices and development standards in engineering.
• Over 4 years of experience in developing embedded software for intricate, high-reliability systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, encompassing system design, debugging, testing, performance analysis, and the development of maintainable code.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including knowledge of concurrency, interrupt handling, memory-mapped peripherals, and hardware communication interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN.
• Experience in developing software for embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments, with familiarity in build systems such as Yocto/OpenEmbedded and operating systems like FreeRTOS.
• Background in developing low-level embedded Linux components, including kernel modules, device drivers, and device tree integrations.
• Experience in creating and maintaining automated test frameworks, validation tools, or hardware/software integration testing environments.
• Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and communication, with the ability to work effectively across software, hardware, and operations teams.
• Familiarity with contemporary software development workflows and tools, including Git-based version control and code review practices.
