This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Examine medical records and physician documentation to correctly assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Conduct E/M coding based on medical decision-making and/or time, as supported by documentation.
• Code orthopedic physician and surgical services, including office visits, procedures, fracture care, injections, arthroscopy, and post-operative services.
• Apply relevant CPT modifiers and comprehend global surgical package requirements.
• Assess documentation for completeness, accuracy, medical necessity, and coding compliance.
• Adhere to current CMS, AMA CPT, ICD-10-CM, NCCI, and payer-specific coding guidelines.
• Detect coding discrepancies and documentation deficiencies.
• Review and code patient encounters within the MEDITECH EHR system.
• Maintain required standards for coding accuracy, productivity, and turnaround time.
• Safeguard patient information and uphold HIPAA compliance.
• Operate independently in a fully remote work environment.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent education is required.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university is necessary.
• An active professional medical coding certification is essential.
• Acceptable certifications may include CPC, CCS, COC, or another recognized professional coding certification, subject to employer approval.
• A minimum of 3+ years of professional medical coding experience is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in E/M coding is necessary.
• Strong experience in orthopedic surgery/orthopedic physician coding is essential.
• Experience with MEDITECH is mandatory.
• Solid knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding is required.
• Familiarity with CPT modifiers, NCCI edits, and global surgery guidelines is necessary.
• Understanding of medical necessity and global surgical package rules is essential.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment is essential.
