This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Deliver designated course content in a virtual setting
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process
• Address students’ individual needs as outlined in each student’s IEP
• Collaborate with students and parents to enhance student learning
• Ensure that special education and related services are delivered as stipulated by the IEP team
• Communicate with parents and related service personnel regarding suitable therapies
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state-specific special education documentation
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP gatherings
• Implement accommodations and modifications utilizing assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
• Adapt Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by IEPs
• Promote inclusion and student success within the general education classroom
• Collect data and work samples to assess progress towards IEP goals
• Document parent communications and student interventions
• Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
• Maintain the gradebook and make decisions regarding placement and promotion
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments
• Foster positive relationships with families and maintain communication with students and learning coaches/parents
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or school obligations
• Michigan Teaching Certification is mandatory
• Special Education endorsement is required
• Bachelor’s degree is essential
• Active state teaching license is necessary
• Capability to pass a required background check
• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week
• Capacity to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during the workday
• Proficient in collaborating with teachers to interpret and generate numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
• Ability to utilize student data to guide instructional decisions
• Open to regular coaching from administrators
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt for optimal student outcomes
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Quick learner, capable of adapting to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with the targeted age group is preferred
• Experience assisting adults and children in technology use is desired
• Experience teaching in an online or traditional classroom setting is advantageous
• Familiarity with an online learning platform is preferred
• Base salary approximately $51,000
• Eligibility for a performance bonus
