This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +3 more states.
• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance tailored to students’ unique IEP requirements
• Oversee the learning process and collaborate with students and parents to enhance educational outcomes
• Ensure that special education and related services mandated by the IEP team are implemented
• Communicate with parents and relevant service personnel about suitable therapies
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state special education documentation
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP reviews
• Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
• Adapt Stride K12 lessons and assessments in alignment with IEP specifications
• Promote student inclusion and success within the general education environment
• Gather data and work samples to track progress toward IEP objectives
• Record parent communications and student interventions
• Evaluate student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity
• Make student placement and promotion decisions while notifying administrators of performance issues
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments
• Build positive relationships with families and communicate effectively with students and learning coaches/parents
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curriculum, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and school-related activities
• Valid state Department of Education Elementary School Special Education Teaching Certification is mandatory
• Preference for candidates residing in North Carolina or South Carolina; candidates from Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia may also be considered
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Must hold an active state teaching license
• Must be able to pass the required background check
• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week
• Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during work hours
• Competence in collaborating with teachers to interpret and generate numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data for instructional purposes
• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student performance
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to quickly learn and adjust to new technologies and teaching platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
• Experience with the specified age group is preferred
• Experience in supporting adults and children through technology is desirable
• Previous teaching experience, whether online or in traditional settings, is preferred
• Familiarity with an online learning platform is preferred
