Elementary School Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Drive student success by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program.

• Assist students in planning for postsecondary education, military service, and career opportunities.

• Offer strategies for academic achievement and support the development of emotional and interpersonal skills.

• Guide students and their families toward college and career readiness.

• Conduct quarterly meetings with assigned students to evaluate graduation plans and postsecondary alternatives.

• Provide classroom instruction that aligns with student success standards.

• Examine transcripts and academic records for accuracy and guidance.

• Collaborate with educators to formulate four-year graduation plans and review student schedules.

• Aid in course placements, Advanced Placement suggestions, and enhanced learning pathways.

• Analyze student data to create intervention action plans.

• Offer short-term counseling and make referrals for long-term support services.

• Support teachers, staff, and parents in educational initiatives.

• Assist with standardized testing, parent education programs, and staff training.

• Advocate for students during individualized education plan meetings and other student-focused discussions.

• Serve as a change agent to enhance equity, access, achievement, and opportunities for all students.

• Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student assessments, and school obligations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement.

• Valid School Counselor License.

• North Carolina Certification is mandatory.

• Must pass a required background check.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database management systems.

• Flexible scheduling and willingness to travel as required.

• Master’s degree in school counseling preferred.

• Experience with distance learning platforms.

• Advanced coursework in counseling and administration is advantageous.

• Background as a teacher and/or school administrator is preferred.

• Experience in a customer service setting is desirable.

• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and mandated reporting is preferred.

• Experience in a charter school environment is a plus.

• Knowledge of state career planning systems, such as Pathfinder or other career-planning tools, is preferred.

• Must be a resident of North Carolina.

• Capability to work independently, typically over 40 hours per week.

• Ability to maintain a professional home office without distractions during work hours.
