This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Conduct engineering evaluations and analyses for modifications to current electronics systems and the installation of new systems for SFLC PL and C5ISC.
• Assess engineering alterations for their effects on ship service and emergency power systems.
• Execute voltage drop calculations.
• Deliver engineering and technical support for existing vessels, including the following related items:
• Arrangement and configuration of cutter electronics.
• Integration of electronic equipment with shipboard electrical systems.
• Interior and exterior communication systems.
• Command and control systems.
• Navigation systems.
• Navy Type, Navy Owned (NTNO) systems.
• Any Coast Guard funded systems as necessary.
• Participate in meetings and conferences.
• Reports directly to the Project Manager.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• A minimum educational qualification of a bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering, or related degrees with COR approval.
• General naval engineering knowledge, including Hull, Mechanical, Electrical (HM&E), as well as electronic components and systems.
• Experience with standard technical drawing practices and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electronic technical drawings.
• Preferred experience with USCG or US Navy technical drawing practices and procedures.
• Prior maritime or marine experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with the interpretation and application of commercial and military standards to USCG shipboard electrical systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office/Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams).
• Mandatory to pass a drug screening and federal background check.
• Ability to successfully complete a NACI background investigation and obtain a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC) for access to USCG IT systems and facilities.
• Must meet pre-employment qualifications set by Cherokee Federal.
