Electrical Engineer – Rated Power

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Develop and assess electrical and solar system designs utilizing Rated Power and AutoCAD to ensure maximum efficiency and technical precision.

• Assemble comprehensive design packages for both internal projects and external tender submissions as needed.

• Generate single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and electrical layout drawings in accordance with project specifications and New Zealand regulations.

• Design effective solar farm layouts while considering topography, shading, resource consent conditions, and grid connection requirements.

• Integrate civil, mechanical, and electrical design elements to guarantee system cohesion and constructability.

• Aid in the in-house development of solar projects from the feasibility stage through to consent submission.

• Assess design alternatives to optimize cost-benefit outcomes, balancing performance with capital efficiency.

• Support the preparation of documentation for resource consent applications and liaise with consultants and local authorities as necessary.

• Contribute to project scoping and tender documentation when requested by clients.

• Provide engineering support during construction to ensure electrical installations comply with design intent and standards.

• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues during installation and commissioning stages.

• Prepare as-built documentation following construction, including updated drawings and compliance verification reports.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary consultants and contractors, reviewing their electrical and solar design outputs.

• Identify potential design enhancements or risks early in the project lifecycle.

• Engage in internal design and coordination meetings to ensure alignment across engineering and project teams.

• Undertake other specific duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related qualification.

• Over 5 years of experience in electrical design, ideally within solar or renewable energy projects.

• Familiarity with the Australian or New Zealand energy markets, including knowledge of local standards, codes, and consenting processes.

• Experience conducting PVsyst simulations and energy yield analysis for solar PV projects is advantageous.

• Proficient in Rated Power for solar system modeling and AutoCAD for design drafting.

• Understanding of electrical design standards, grid connection requirements, and HV/LV system configurations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on balancing design efficiency and cost.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality design documentation.

• Experience with large-scale or utility solar farms in Australia or New Zealand.

• Familiarity with PV system optimization, grid compliance, and inverter design principles.

• Proven ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a project team.

• A passion for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development is desirable.
