Electrical Engineer IV – Substation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and evaluation of engineering deliverables for substations, including layouts for equipment, grounding systems, bus configurations, conductor and cable schedules, as well as general arrangement drawings.

• Conduct and supervise engineering calculations related to grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault current, and equipment ratings.

• Take charge of equipment selection, development of specifications, and review of vendor drawings.

• Prepare, assess, and authorize design packages and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams.

• Execute and supervise quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to compliance.

• Manage various projects while upholding scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

• Confirm that designs meet IEEE, NEC, NESC, and ANSI standards.

• Engage with clients to resolve technical challenges and present engineering solutions.

• Assist in the development of proposals, scope definition, and planning of projects.

• Conduct site visits, field inspections, and provide construction support as required.

• Mentor junior personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.

• At least 8 years of experience in power delivery, renewable energy, or power generation.

• Proven experience in leading substation design projects and mentoring junior staff.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and electrical analysis software such as ETAP, CYME, SKM, and PSCAD.

• Strong understanding of IEEE, NESC, NEC, and ANSI codes and standards.

• Exceptional leadership, project management, and decision-making capabilities.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience in client interactions.

• Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Office Suite.

• Capability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Experience with PVcase and PVCAD is advantageous.

• Familiarity with utility-scale wind and solar projects, MV power systems, and AC/DC distribution systems is a plus.

• Background in Battery Energy Storage Systems is beneficial.

• Experience with manufacturers of power transformers, circuit breakers, AIS/GIS switchgear, and AC/DC inverters is favorable.

• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Verification of U.S. work authorization is required upon hire.
