
Electrical Engineer III β Substation P&C

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more states.
β’ Assist in the engineering and design of Protection & Control systems for high-voltage substations, including both AIS and GIS types.
β’ Create and evaluate design drawings for protection and control, such as single line diagrams, three line diagrams, DC schematics, communication schematics, and wiring layouts.
β’ Prepare and assess engineering deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
β’ Ensure adherence to standards set by IEEE, NERC, NEC, NESC, as well as client-specific requirements.
β’ Contribute to project planning and execution by managing schedules, deliverables, and technical coordination.
β’ Develop relay settings and establish protection philosophy for projects.
β’ Conduct thorough QA/QC on P&C design packages for accuracy and compliance.
β’ Provide mentorship and training to junior P&C engineers and designers.
β’ Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and inspections, offering site support as required.
β’ Assist with utility coordination and interconnection processes for renewable energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
β’ A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain one.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in power system engineering, substation protection and controls, transmission planning, or renewable energy integration is necessary.
β’ Familiarity with high-voltage substation P&C design, specifically with relays, batteries, chargers, SCADA interfaces, and control panels.
β’ Experience with power system analysis software such as PSSE, ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, or equivalent tools is essential.
β’ Proficient in conducting power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC standards.
β’ Previous experience in supporting utility coordination and interconnection processes for energy projects is advantageous.
β’ Knowledge of networking devices and communication configuration is beneficial.
β’ Familiarity with ASPEN software and relay settings is an asset.
β’ Strong ability to manage technical deliverables while adhering to project timelines and deadlines.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and technical documentation.
