This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• The role of EHR Application Analyst I presents a distinctive opportunity to integrate clinical and operational knowledge with technology.
• This analyst is part of a collaborative team that enhances and supports the electronic health record, with continuous learning and teamwork being integral to the daily experience.
• Analysts are tasked with translating clinical and operational requirements to propose enhancements that improve operational workflows, staff efficiency, and patient care through modifications to electronic records for URMC and its affiliates.
• Conducts basic analysis and facilitates the creation of integrated workflows.
• Completes the functional design and development of the EHR application under the guidance of a preceptor or manager.
• Collaborates with team members to resolve system issues and communicates potential risks to the team lead or project manager.
• Reviews proposed enhancements.
• Prioritizes and assists in implementing requested changes to the system with support from a preceptor or manager.
• Works alongside the project team, subject matter experts, and training and technical teams to define processes that span applications and functional areas.
• Engages in the upgrade process, which includes NOVA review (eRecord only).
• Serves as a representative for the team as necessary and attends upgrade meetings.
• Constructs reports and workflows, and tests the work of self and others as required.
• Maintains standards for system development, including adherence to naming and numbering conventions, security classifications, and databases/spreadsheets for system development and change control.
• Complies with organizational policies and procedures.
• Develops relationships and communicates effectively with the project team, key stakeholders, and physician practices as necessary.
• Performs tasks that uphold the foundational components and/or performance of the EHR application with minimal guidance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• An associate's degree in a related field (such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, or Engineering is preferred) and 1 year of relevant experience are required.
• Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Preferred experience includes clinical, technical, or administrative roles in a healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of URMC policies, clinical operations, and familiarity with regulations that impact clinical practice is preferred.
• Clinical experience, particularly in an imaging department, is also preferred.
• A strong attention to detail is essential.
• Required skills include the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems and strong critical thinking abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with teamwork and follow-up skills, are necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft software, particularly Office and SharePoint, is required.
• Familiarity with Meaningful Use (ARRA), as well as HIPAA, JCAHO, and other regulations affecting clinical practices, is preferred.
• EPIC - EPIC Certification within 1 year is required.
