This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Edit, compose, and manage academic, research, and grant-related documents, including highly specialized materials under stringent deadlines.
• Offer substantive, stylistic, and copy editing assistance to faculty across a wide array of research initiatives.
• Identify peer-reviewed funding opportunities and work collaboratively with investigators to align prospects with suitable applicants.
• Aid in grant development activities, encompassing proposal coordination and submission strategy.
• Collaborate with investigators and departmental personnel to ensure the timely and accurate submission of grant proposals.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects while upholding high editorial and organizational standards.
• Contribute to enhancing external funding for the Department of Surgery’s research programs.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of experience in grant submission and/or project coordination, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in publishing, editing, or managing scholarly content (preferred).
• Proven experience with grant-related documents within an academic or research-driven setting.
• Advanced understanding of medical terminology, technical publishing standards, and editorial best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with bibliographic/reference management software (e.g., EndNote).
• Preferred skills include Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, QuarkXPress or InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Familiarity with new media, print, and digital writing and editing workflows.
• Certification from the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) Board of Editors in the Life Science University of Chicago Medical Writing & Editing Program is preferred.
