Early Career Policy Principal – DMEE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement strategies for engaging with state-level regulators and governors.

• Research state-specific energy forecasts, political environments, and key stakeholders to guide strategic initiatives.

• Develop, nurture, and oversee relationships with essential stakeholders, such as policymakers, advocacy organizations, coalitions, industry specialists, and regulatory bodies.

• Act as a representative of United before decision-makers and effectively relay our policy priorities.

• Utilize project management tools and systems efficiently to achieve both short-term and long-term objectives.

• Organize and maintain information to support program knowledge management and retention.

• Report on campaign progress, results, and key metrics to internal and external stakeholders, including United’s member companies.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• 3-6 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years in political analysis, campaigns, and/or issue advocacy.

• Background in the advanced energy sector is advantageous.

• Proven ability to swiftly grasp and navigate complex technical subjects and effectively communicate key insights to decision-makers.

• History of successfully launching and managing multi-stakeholder programs or campaigns.

• Self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial mindset; candidates should be comfortable collaborating with colleagues in a remote setting, managing new projects, organizing their own schedules, and meeting high expectations.

• Strong interpersonal abilities are essential; candidates must be adept at cultivating and sustaining productive relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, advocacy groups, industry experts, and regulators.

• Established connections or a proven capacity to quickly form relationships with senior leaders in the energy field.

• Experience handling confidential information and intelligence.

• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, including public speaking.

• An entrepreneurial attitude that thrives in high levels of ambiguity and fluidity.

• Willingness to travel as necessary (up to 25%).
