This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Analyze medical record documentation to extract and assign diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers.
• Offer insights concerning documentation and coding challenges.
• Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to all relevant Official Coding Guidelines.
• Engage in coder and provider training, including initiatives for improving documentation for providers.
• Collaborate with providers, nursing personnel, and assigned departments.
• Aid in the training and quality assurance processes for all coding levels.
• Promote strong team unity by effectively collaborating with other team members.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• A minimum of five years of medical coding experience with multi-specialty exposure or relevant specialty certification is required.
• At least two years of experience in an academic environment is required.
• Proficiency across all major specialties is essential.
• Strong expertise in procedural coding is required.
• Experience in reviewing DRG assignments is necessary.
• CCS-Certified Coding Specialist - AAPC - American Academy of Procedural Coders certification is required.
