This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assist in the design of both overhead and underground electric distribution systems, with voltage ranges from 4kV to 69kV.
• Develop comprehensive scopes of work, cost estimates, engineering calculations, and design drawings that adhere to relevant utility standards, U.S. national codes, and industry best practices (e.g., NESC, IEEE).
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners (utilities, municipalities, contractors) to gather design specifications and ensure project coherence.
• Employ industry-standard software such as QuickPole, SpidaCalc, and/or PLS-CADD for line design and evaluation.
• Conduct or assist in aerial line inspections and evaluations for distribution and joint-use (communications) infrastructure.
• Implement applicable U.S. standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and relevant state/local regulations.
• Aid in the permitting process, including coordination with DOTs, railroads, cities, and counties throughout Texas.
• Gather, interpret, and arrange engineering, survey, and vendor information.
• Identify and assist in resolving technical and project-related issues in partnership with senior engineers.
• Contribute to the development and upkeep of internal engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project schedules and deliverables are achieved.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electric utility distribution design.
• In-depth knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Expertise in design software such as QuickPole, SpidaCalc, and/or PLS-CADD.
• Familiarity with NESC, IEEE standards, and utility design protocols in the U.S.
• Understanding of permitting requirements across Texas (TxDOT, municipalities, rail crossings, etc.) is advantageous.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or the ability to acquire one) is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
