This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Oversee system design and architecture evaluations for enterprise applications, platforms, and shared services.
• Convert business requirements into scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable end-to-end system designs.
• Assess logical architectures against CVS Health approved standards for ingress, secure hub routing, managed firewall traversal, API gateway application, identity, and private connectivity.
• Direct engineering teams on sanctioned hosting models across Kubernetes clusters, web applications, and shared cloud platforms.
• Evaluate application architectures against resiliency tier standards, such as RTO, RPO, replication, failover, AirGap backup, observability, and operational recovery readiness.
• Confirm the use of sanctioned cloud-native, managed, and SaaS services across Azure, GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments.
• Deliver architecture gap assessments, remediation strategies, and target-state recommendations for application teams and engineering leadership.
• Propel system engineering decisions across infrastructure, application, integration, data, network, identity, and observability domains.
• Develop and refine reference architectures, reusable engineering blueprints, and architecture review frameworks for the Solution Engineering team.
• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, Enterprise Architecture, and platform teams on standards adoption, exception management, and risk-informed design choices.
• Mentor engineers and architects in effective system design, resiliency engineering, and enterprise solution pattern implementation.
• Facilitate AI-driven automation of architecture reviews utilizing structured rules, multimodal inputs, and knowledge-based recommendations.
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, system engineering, platform engineering, distributed systems, or enterprise architecture.
• Profound expertise in system design for large-scale enterprise applications, service-oriented architectures, and distributed platforms.
• Extensive experience in system engineering across infrastructure, networking, security, application, integration, and operations domains.
• Strong background in designing and assessing cloud-native and hybrid architectures across Azure, GCP, AWS, and/or on-prem environments.
• In-depth understanding of enterprise security patterns, including edge ingress, load balancing, API gateways, network segmentation, firewall controls, identity management, and private service connectivity.
• Solid knowledge of resiliency engineering, covering high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore, replication, failover, and operational recovery planning.
• Experience with Kubernetes, web-hosted application platforms, APIs, managed data services, and service-to-service integration patterns.
• Capability to analyze ambiguous business and technical requirements, identify architectural risks, and deliver clear engineering guidance.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready architecture assessments and technical recommendations.
• Experience in healthcare or another highly regulated enterprise setting.
• Familiarity with enterprise identity and authorization patterns such as Azure AD or Entra ID, managed identity, service principals, OAuth 2.0, and external identity providers.
• Knowledge of API management platforms such as Azure API Management, Apigee X, Kong, or similar gateway technologies.
• Experience with architecture governance, approved service catalogues, and cloud adoption guardrails.
• Experience in building or supporting AI-enabled engineering workflows, architecture assessment platforms, or recommendation automation capabilities.
• Understanding of vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, and knowledge-driven advisory systems.
• Proficient with Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise workflow and documentation platforms.
