Distinguished Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of the technical architecture across the entire company, encompassing frontend, backend, APIs, and data systems.

• Lead the design of large-scale, distributed, and event-driven systems that are built to facilitate current and future growth.

• Establish foundational patterns for our main stack: React/TypeScript for the frontend, Node.js for the backend, and a scalable data architecture throughout.

• Make pivotal architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

• Act as the technical authority on the most complex and high-impact challenges within the organization.

• Contribute directly to the codebase in critical paths, foundational systems, and high-risk areas.

• Foster alignment across teams regarding system design, engineering standards, and long-term technical vision.

• Define and enhance practices related to reliability, observability, and incident response across the platform.

• Assess and implement technologies, cloud infrastructure (GCP), and tools that support long-term scalability.

• Collaborate with leadership on technical strategy, product direction, and company-wide trade-offs.

• Mentor senior and staff engineers to elevate the quality of work through design reviews and collaborative efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on leading architecture for complex, large-scale systems.

• Extensive hands-on expertise across the full technology stack: TypeScript/React, Node.js, APIs, and data systems.

• Strong background in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and high-scale system design.

• Solid understanding of Postgres, Redis, and scalable data patterns.

• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) and modern infrastructure practices.

• Proven ability to drive technical direction across multiple teams or an entire engineering organization.

• Capability to balance immediate delivery requirements with long-term architectural integrity.

• Effective communicator who can influence engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders alike.
